Review: Crashed Out by Tessa Bailey

The Faerie Queen’s review Boy, was this an excellent Christmas present to warm me up on a dreary British day. To help you understand what I mean… “If I ever feel your fingers in my hair again, they’d better be pulling my face closer to whatever I’m licking.” Our hero, Sarge, has been crushing on his sister’s best friend since hormones flooded his body, and after running off to make it as a rockstar, he returns four years later to reconnect with his family…and hopefully “connect” with Jasmine. And boy, did Sarge make his intentions clear, toeing the line between too much. This is one of those cases where an alpha male acting up in a book is hot as hell but would not go down well with me in real life. “You’re so arrogant now,” she whispered on a huffed breath, unable to put the required exasperation in her […]

Review: Christmas with a Bite by Patricia A. Wolf

Review: Christmas with a Bite by Patricia A. Wolf

The Faerie Queen’s review My two sentence review: This started really well!!!!!!!!! And then it became increasingly bewildering… Basically, this book was nearly impossible for me to give a rating for. On the one hand, the plot got weirder the further along I read, with far too much convenience with some things. (“Oh hi, this thing exists that you’ve never heard of in your centuries of being alive and guess what? We have it!”) On the other, I did actually enjoy reading it. If anything, the outlandishness of some things made it more fun with the addition of a friend I could go WTF to in DMs. The romance itself is hard for me to judge. I liked it and I didn’t. It started with some fun, a nice building tension with banter and boardgames. But then it escalated, with professions of love in a matter of days. It was bizarre […]

Excerpt: One and Done by Melynda Price

Happy release day to One and Done by Melynda Price! We have an excerpt and a giveaway to get you excited about this new holiday getaway romance! About the book Excerpt “Balen, are you homeless?” His brow arched. Autumn wasn’t sure why he looked so surprised she asked. It wasn’t a very far leap. The writing was on the wall—his friend making that crack about him being a jobless beach bum, him volunteering to spend the week with her…and now here he was, needing a place to say. She wasn’t an idiot. One plus one usually equaled two. Balen studied her until the tension in the room grew stifling. “Is my socioeconomic status an issue for you? You’ve got the spare room and I happen to be in need of one for the next week. I thought… Look, if staying with you is going to be a problem, I can leave.” […]

Excerpt: One Night by Allie Everhart

Happy Monday! To get the week started, here’s an excerpt from One Night by Allie Everhart. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt AMBER “So…can I come in?” Dylan laughs a little. “Oh, um, I um…” My brain still isn’t working. I can’t even form sentences. What is he doing here? The thought leaves my mouth. “What are you doing here?” I step aside to let him in. “I told you, I had to give you something.” He still has that smile as he comes into my apartment and closes the door. I hold up the envelope. “You already gave it to me.” “I could’ve just left that at your door. That’s not what I came here to give you.” “I don’t understand.” He steps up to me and his hand cups my cheek, his eyes moving over my face. “You’re even more beautiful than I remembered.” […]

Excerpt: Abroad Book Two by Liz Jacobs

Happy Friday! We’ve got another excerpt for you today, this time from Abroad Book Two by Liz Jacobs! As usual, we’ll start with some information about the book, and you’ll find a giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt A shift next to Nick, then a sigh. He froze. Had he woken Dex up after all? He waited as Dex moved behind him, and then the futon shifted. Dex was up. Nick turned over, only to see him escape quietly out of the study. Nick took advantage of it and shifted into a position he could maybe fall asleep in, provided he could shut his fucking brain up. God, sleeping next to another person was stressful as hell. He and Lena did it rarely enough that he had never managed to get used to it. Dex didn’t seem to have this problem. Again, Nick’s lack of experience made him squirm. Dex […]

Introducing Reverse Harem Month!

Introducing Reverse Harem Month!

As announced on Twitter, Love in a time of Feminism is kicking of 2018 with the theme… Reverse Harem! What is Reverse Harem? You probably know what a harem is, but just in case, it’s a term to denote either the area of a man’s home designated for women (wives, concubines, and female servants), as well as the group of women themselves. With regards to fiction, you’ll most likely read it relating to the group of women, all centred around one man. By logic, a reverse harem is the opposite: a group of men, centred around on woman. It might be worth noting that reverse harem does not necessarily have to involve romantic relationships and can be used to simply describe a main cast consisting of one girl and multiple guys, but given this blog is dedicated to romance, we’ll stick to just the romantic relationships. Reverse harem is more commonly […]

Excerpt: A Sheikh for Christmas by Leslie North

Heya! Today, we’re giving you a little taste of A Sheikh for Christmas by Leslie North! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Melody watched him walk away beneath her damp lashes. She’d never really paid much attention to Daveed before. He’d been one of Heath’s friends and always hanging around the periphery of their group, but had sort of kept to himself. Now, though, he’d come to her aid in her hour of need—or more like day of desperation—and a girl couldn’t ignore such chivalry. As the silence between them grew more awkward by the second, she got up and wandered over to the table, which was covered by papers and post-it notes. Daveed didn’t look up at her at all, so she finally pulled out a chair and sat, forcing a tremulous smile. “What are […]

Review: The Twelve Days of Seduction by Eva Devon

Review: The Twelve Days of Seduction by Eva Devon

The Faerie Queen’s review This novella was a surprisingly good read! It started out a bit weird, but then I got into it. At 120 pages, it’s very quick, and as you can imagine, things don’t get as developed as they could. I could have actually read a full version of this, but then I also loved how easy it was to get through. I could just enjoy it without getting too bogged down. I was also not feeling too great when I started it, but because it was quick and light, it was a great pick-me-up. The story is told over twelve chapters and swaps narration between Adriana, a “governess”, and Alexander, a duke. Adriana is quite scrappy but very caring underneath it all, while Alexander is your typical brooding hero. After discovering that Adriana isn’t who she says she is, Alexander threatens to throw her out on Christmas […]
