Excerpt: Succubus Lips by Lina Jubilee

Happy hump day! 😉 We’ve got a little bit of taster to share with you today of a new reverse harem series starter Succubus Lips by Lina Jubilee! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt In the library, my bare ass against some dusty volume of Descartes, his thick hands cupping me from below. Him nibbling on my ear, my hands threaded through his wavy, dark brown locks. Why, oh why, do my thoughts inevitably drift to that night…? I had to stop myself from dwelling on him too long. “I often find myself having such thoughts about that night, too. Though I certainly make no point of dismissing them.” That was why. That was Zander’s voice in my head—leader of the Renegades, traitor of the Veras team, all-around hunk but a little too aware of that. Having […]

Review: Power of Five by Alex Lidell

The Faerie Queen’s review So you may have noticed my recent addiction to reverse harem romances. It really takes romance into the world of fantasy for me, entertaining this idea that I could have multiple gorgeous and interesting men all to myself. Add to that the fact that the men in Power of Five are fae and you’ve hooked me. There is a reason I call myself the Faerie Queen. I LOVE FAERIES. And I loved this book. As with all reverse harems, I could pinpoint the stereotypes that each guy played: the serious one, the playful one, the broken one, etc. But I was completely endeared to each and every one of them. They were each sexy and so warm in their own ways, though it took time for each to show this. Yes, ok, there was some insta-ness going on, given how magic had “chosen” them as a quint, […]

Review: Secrets in the Shadows, a Shifter Anthology

Review: Secrets in the Shadows, a Shifter Anthology

The Faerie Queen’s review Anthologies are always a risk for me, especially when published independently. The last one I tried was a disaster, with no proofreading and only half-baked ideas. Writing short stories can often be tougher than writing novels, as you have less time to get the characters, world, and plot together. But I do try to pick up an anthology from time to time, especially when delving into a genre I haven’t read in a while, as it’s a way to almost play catch up with the genre, plus it’s a great way to get to know some new authors. That’s why I gave this one a try. No, I didn’t read all of the stories. I’m a big believer in putting down books you don’t enjoy, and that applies to anthologies. If I wasn’t clicking with the story a couple chapters in, I moved on. In fact, […]

Guest Post: Leslie North, author of Tempting the Rancher, on the hardest thing about writing

Hi everyone! We have a special guest post for you from Leslie North, author of Tempting the Rancher! We asked Leslie what’s the hardest thing about writing. She shared the biggest hurdle for her, and what she does to combat it. You can also find out more about her book and enter a giveaway at the end! The hardest part of writing Sometimes the hard part is just sitting down! There are so many distractions these days, but usually if I have the discipline to just turn off the outside world, sit down at my writing desk and start typing, the words just flow out of me! I have found having a routine is an important part of my writing strategy. So I will write Monday to Friday in the mornings, all morning. I like to write then as I always feel more creative and haven’t been distracted yet by the world outside. I […]

Review & Excerpt: The Bride Takes a Groom by Lisa Berne

The GingerSnap’s review It is a well-known fact that I love me some historical romance, especially when it involves heroines doing the wooing; marriages of convenience that involve hot, hot sex; and strong family dynamics. Therefore, this book checked every box for me. I’ve been in a major reading slump lately, so I’ve been having trouble sticking with novels that are too detailed or involved. Therefore, this book was perfect. Despite Hugo’s huge family (which includes one hilarious parrot named Señor Rodrigo), each character had their own distinctive personality, making it easy to tell apart all his siblings. I also loved how obvious Hugo’s affection for his family was. He will do absolutely anything to help them, and despite his mother’s difficulty handling the family finances, he doesn’t admonish her– rather, he just sets out to make things right so she no longer has to carry such a burden. He […]

Excerpt: The Sweet Life by Dakota Star

We’re kicking off Cowboy Month with an excerpt from The Sweet Life by Dakota Star. Enjoy! Excerpt He tipped his hat and led Alexis to the herd. Feeling clumsy and off-kilter, she followed the rancher over to the available horses, trying not to stare at his long stride and tight backside. He stopped in front of a fiery chestnut thoroughbred. “Would you like the mounting block?” “I think I can get up from the ground.” The horse appeared taller as she inched closer to it. His intense red coat matched her hair. “His name is Blazing Star, but just call him Blaze.” Mitch patted the horse’s neck. “He’s a thoroughbred, but a good boy and won’t startle.” A smile reached his lips as he handed her the reins. “As long as you can get up on the first try.” “I’m sure I can.” The words came out harsher than expected. She […]

Review & Excerpt: How (Not) to Date a Prince by Zoe May

The Faerie Queen’s review Royal Wedding month is upon us, and I’m genuinely excited because I think Meghan is awesome, and I’ve also always had a thing for Harry. So it seems appropriate to kick off the new month with a royal romance! Like the heroine, Sam, I (usually) couldn’t care less about royal weddings. (Again, I love Meghan and Harry, so I do actually care this time.) Sam’s ex-fiancé left her at the altar three years before, and she was not interested in writing about love; nope, she was a political journalist. But her editor assigns her to write a “heart-warmer” about the Norwegian prince and his regular girl bride, and in the process, we get a heart-warmer of a story, too! This was a single POV story, and a lot of the beginning was focused on Sam and her life. It took a while for Anders to actually […]

Review & Excerpt: Hot Response by Shannon Stacey

Review & Excerpt: Hot Response by Shannon Stacey

The Faerie Queen’s review What a way to start a book… From the very first scene, I was on Team Gavin. He was so charming and caring and gaaaaah. I wanted him. His cockiness never came across as arrogance; it was just fun and endearing and sexy. He and Cait talked about how he might joke too much, and that sometimes he didn’t know when to quit, but I never saw that. Gavin was basically perfect; flawed, but nicely so. And maybe one of my favourite things about him? He had so much respect for Cait’s professional competency; there’s a scene that I wanted to share but won’t for spoiler reasons, but a man letting a woman take charge is definitely swoonworthy. Another win for Team Beta! And why did he have to have such a great smile? “See, you’re doing it right now.” “Doing what?” “That smile that probably makes […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Suitors and Sabotage by Cindy Anstey

We don’t feature a lot of YA on here (because the Faerie Queen tends to do all that on her other blog), but we wanted to make an exception today for a YA historical romance, given how rare those are. As such, we’ve got an excerpt from Suitors and Sabotage by Cindy Anstey! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! Plus, if you’re looking for a review to read, the Faerie Queen has one. About the book Excerpt The young gentleman hooked her hand and with little fuss tucked it in place as if he took the arm of young ladies every day—which she supposed he did, being as he had been in London for the Season. Oh dear, and now he was walking. Imogene tried to match his pace, saw him look over with a friendly smile and then, suddenly, their […]
