Excerpt & Giveaway: A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian

Queen of LGBTQ+ historical fiction Cat Sebastian is back with A Gentleman Never Keeps Score, and we have an excerpt! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Now that he had this stranger in his library, Hartley was having misgivings about the soundness of his plan. First, this man was significantly larger than anyone needed to be. The Hepplewhite chair hardly contained him. Hartley had good reasons for not feeling particularly at ease around large men, but this man didn’t seem threatening. He sat in that chair as if it were a church pew, his hat politely on his lap. Hartley started to lower himself into the matching chair beside his guest, but then thought better of it and perched on the edge of a table, enjoying a false but comforting sense of height. Second, it was unwise to trust […]

Review & Excerpt: The Billionaire’s Wake-up-call Girl by Annika Martin

The Faerie Queen’s review I read this whilst in a car with my boyfriend, driving down the winding roads of Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way (aka the west coast). And boy, did I have fun! This one is (obviously) for those of you who like your billionaire fantasies. In one corner, we’ve got scientist CEO Theo for a hero, consumed with efficiency and scientific breakthroughs, believing there’s no room for fun and personality in the workplace lest they decrease productivity. In the other corner, we have Lizzie, creative bakery owner turned social media coordinator, desperate for an income to help her recover from the financial blow that was dating a conman. Both are stubborn, and both have personal issues in their pasts. My ultimate favourite parts of the book were Lizzie and Theo’s early morning conversations before he discovered her identity. They were sexy, bizarre at times, and laugh-out-loud funny. So funny! My […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Discovering You by Kate McBrien

Happy Hump Day! How about a little bit of foreplay from Discovering You by Kate McBrien? About the book Excerpt Justin reached for her hand. “Come here.” Lucy took one step forward, and Justin cradled her face, gazing into her eyes. He leaned in slowly and gave her a gentle kiss. His lips were soft and full as they touched hers. It was a tender kiss at first, but soon the kiss deepened. His kiss should have felt new, but instead it felt like coming home to something rooted deep within her. His fingers wound around her hair, pulling her even closer to him. He moaned as Lucy parted her lips, allowing his tongue access inside, exploring her depths. Something detonated inside Lucy as she ran her fingers through his hair. It seemed as if all the anxiety she usually had around men had evaporated. Justin pulled away, his eyes exploring […]

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: A Taste of Pleasure by Chloe Blake

The Faerie Queen’s review Who loves food? Who loves Italian food? Because mmmmmmm. This book made me HUNGRY. For food… and for Toni. A Taste of Pleasure describes the way this book started off. Dani and Toni meet at their friends’ wedding, where Dani has done the catering and Toni has provided the wines. They have a night of pleasure – one they both need with their respective recent romantic experiences. Dani was in a weird sexual relationship with her boss, while Toni was just divorced from his wife (and mother of his daughter). The morning after their encounter, Dani sneaks away, not wanting any awkwardness. It’s not until a year later, when Dani’s career has blown up in her face (she catches the boss cheating, big surprise) and she takes a break with her mom in Milan, where she began her career has a chef. In a weird twist of fate, […]

Excerpt: Freed by Carly Phillips

It’s almost Friday, guys. We’re almost there. To get us through one more day, here’s an excerpt from Freed by Carly Phillips! About the book Excerpt “What are you doing?” The first hint of true panic since he’d been found out sliced into her father’s voice. “I’m leaving.” He rushed over, placing a hand on her suitcase. “Juliette, no. We can work this out. I want to make this right.” “You can’t.” The damage was done by withholding information about her family. “Be reasonable before you storm out. You’ve never been away from home alone. Never held a job. What are your plans?” “And whose fault is that? You’ve kept me dependent on you, but now it’s time for me to be an adult. To meet my sisters and live my own life.” She closed her suitcase and zipped it around before turning to face him. “I can promise you, I […]

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Mistake of Magic by Alex Lidell

The Faerie Queen’s review YESSSS book 2 in the Power of Five series! I adored the first book, so I was psyched to read the second instalment. But also dead nervous because so many series that start well flop in the next book. In this book, the quint faces down the council, eager to break them one way or another. They must prove to the rest of the fae that Lera deserves to be there despite being human. Basically, that she is not, in fact, a mistake of magic. As with the first book, yes, this is a reverse harem romance, but it’s also a great fantasy story with an interesting world and lovable/detestable characters. I enjoyed seeing the inner workings of the Council, which was the main focus of this. But even more than that, I loved seeing all the men in Lera’s quint open up more and show other sides to […]

Excerpt: The Highlander’s Promise by Lynsay Sands

Happy Friday! Lynsay Sands is continuing her Highlanders series with book 6, The Highlander’s Promise, and we’ve got an excerpt for you! There’s also a giveaway to enter at the end for the WHOLE SERIES (in paperback)! About the book Excerpt “Did I do something to anger you?” Jetta asked with a frown. His eyebrows rose at the question. “Nay. What would make ye think that?” “Because you have not kissed nor touched me again since then. I thought either you thought I did not want you to, or that I had somehow angered you, or that you simply tired of me and did not want me anymore because of my shorn head and my being too thin.” “Oh, lass,” Aulay said softly, cupping her cheek with his hand. “Ye’ve no’ angered me, and I am definitely no’ tired o’ ye. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Every […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker

Two men must face their pasts and open themselves up to love again in Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker, released this week. Enjoy an excerpt to get you going down below, plus enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card! About the book Excerpt Aubrey Patrick had put out two bowls of minestrone-style soup and what looked like home-baked bread. “Do you make your own bread?” I asked. Patrick sat down quietly opposite me. “Only when I make soup.” “Well, this looks incredible.” It really did. Being cold and hungry, it didn’t get any better than homemade soup and bread. I tasted a small spoonful of the soup. “Okay, wow.” He finally smiled and relaxed. “Thanks.” “You’re a really good cook.” “Just for the homely stuff. I’m not much good at that fancy kind of cooking.” “This,” I gestured to the food he’d put on the table, “is better than any […]

Review, Excerpt, & Giveaway: Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean

The Faerie Queen’s review Oh why oh why did it take me so long to read a book by Sarah MacLean when Emily literally introduced me to the author at a romance convention back in February?! Because that was so damn good. I am seduced. At first, I was a little bit confused, what with the prologue (which you can read below) and opening scene making me think two characters were one and the same. I constructed this whole theory based on the prologue that I quickly learned was only partly true, and not entirely as relevant as I thought. I loved Devil and his complexities, I loved the supporting characters – especially Grace, who immediately imprinted on me as a badass despite only a handful of scenes including her –, and I loved the whole world that was historical Covent Garden. (Fun fact, before reading this book, I actually went […]

Excerpt & Giveaway (Round 2!): Back to the Start by Elle Keating

Not so long ago, we gave you a first teaser for Back to the Start by Elle Keating. Today, we’re back to give you another, especially as the book is out in the big wide world and ready for you to indulge in properly! About the book Excerpt “I’m sorry,” she said. Her eyes didn’t well with tears. Those long-awaited tears just pooled and flowed over. Jake raked his fingers through his hair and paced the spare bedroom. “Sorry for what, Morgan? What exactly are you sorry about?” he yelled. He walked over and dropped to his knees and sifted through the letters. When he found the one he wanted he stood and stared at her. The pain in his eyes shattered her and she knew what was going to happen next. He ripped open the envelope and withdrew the letter. “Read it,” he demanded, waving it in her face. She […]
