Excerpt & Giveaway: Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker

Two men must face their pasts and open themselves up to love again in Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker, released this week. Enjoy an excerpt to get you going down below, plus enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card! About the book Excerpt Aubrey Patrick had put out two bowls of minestrone-style soup and what looked like home-baked bread. “Do you make your own bread?” I asked. Patrick sat down quietly opposite me. “Only when I make soup.” “Well, this looks incredible.” It really did. Being cold and hungry, it didn’t get any better than homemade soup and bread. I tasted a small spoonful of the soup. “Okay, wow.” He finally smiled and relaxed. “Thanks.” “You’re a really good cook.” “Just for the homely stuff. I’m not much good at that fancy kind of cooking.” “This,” I gestured to the food he’d put on the table, “is better than any […]

Review, Excerpt, & Giveaway: Wicked and the Wallflower by Sarah MacLean

The Faerie Queen’s review Oh why oh why did it take me so long to read a book by Sarah MacLean when Emily literally introduced me to the author at a romance convention back in February?! Because that was so damn good. I am seduced. At first, I was a little bit confused, what with the prologue (which you can read below) and opening scene making me think two characters were one and the same. I constructed this whole theory based on the prologue that I quickly learned was only partly true, and not entirely as relevant as I thought. I loved Devil and his complexities, I loved the supporting characters – especially Grace, who immediately imprinted on me as a badass despite only a handful of scenes including her –, and I loved the whole world that was historical Covent Garden. (Fun fact, before reading this book, I actually went […]

Excerpt & Giveaway (Round 2!): Back to the Start by Elle Keating

Not so long ago, we gave you a first teaser for Back to the Start by Elle Keating. Today, we’re back to give you another, especially as the book is out in the big wide world and ready for you to indulge in properly! About the book Excerpt “I’m sorry,” she said. Her eyes didn’t well with tears. Those long-awaited tears just pooled and flowed over. Jake raked his fingers through his hair and paced the spare bedroom. “Sorry for what, Morgan? What exactly are you sorry about?” he yelled. He walked over and dropped to his knees and sifted through the letters. When he found the one he wanted he stood and stared at her. The pain in his eyes shattered her and she knew what was going to happen next. He ripped open the envelope and withdrew the letter. “Read it,” he demanded, waving it in her face. She […]

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Stand & Deliver by Rhenna Morgan

The Faerie Queen’s review Ugh, I wish I’d read the other books in the series first because I feel like I missed out on a lot of the banter and lead-up to this book! I signed up for the tour because I was intrigued by the idea of a female security specialist butting heads (and bumping other parts) with a very alpha coworker. I could see the potential for steamy banter a mile away! I could completely see where Gia was coming from. In such a stereotypically masculine industry, she felt the constant need to prove herself, not showing any hint of femininity except what was needed for a job. And given the profession, she couldn’t just act like a guy; she had to always be strong and tough, never showing vulnerability for fear it would count against her. If she was going to have a man in her life, […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Not Her Gargoyle by Annie Nicholas

We all know first kiss scenes are so difficult to write but so delicious to read. Well, we can safely say that the scene down below made the Faerie Queen squirm – in a good way! Take a peek, then get your hands on Not Her Gargoyle by Annie Nicholas! About the book Excerpt His mouth tipped up at one corner into a sultry smile. The kind that made women drop their panties. The kind that turned Ruby’s knees into jelly. “Really?” he asked as he strode forward. He looked like an animal, sleek and sensuous. Shoulders rolling as he moved. She might have ovulated. Her back hit the wall and only then did she realize her retreat. When had she backed down to a man? Sexual control was her super power. The only one she’d owned. Nick changed everything. He didn’t stop his advance until they were almost touching, and […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Not for Me by Kat de Falla

To keep you going on a Monday, we’ve got another treat for you in the form of an excerpt from Not for Me by Kat de Falla! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Women should meet men at balls, not bars. The doors opened, jolting me from my British Renaissance daydream enough to step inside the claustrophobia-inducing metal box. The doors started to close when a series of rapid clicks and heavy footsteps pounded toward the elevator. A deep voice yelled, “Hi ya, George! Hey, can you hold the elevator?” I knew that voice. Oh no! With a jerk forward, I managed to hit the little button with two outward pointing arrows. A hand appeared in between the doors to stop them from shutting. The doors reopened. My throat seized shut, and time froze. The sixth-floor hottie! […]

Review & Giveaway: Her Super-Secret Rebound Boyfriend by Kerri Carpenter

The Faerie Queen’s review Five words to describe Her Super-Secret Rebound Boyfriend? Adorable. Low angst. Day-dreamy. Quick. Luke and Lola meet at Luke’s high school reunion, where Lola is pretending to be someone else at the behest of her best friend and roommate. Lola was recently dumped, and Frankie wanted to get her out of her funk, so why not take a page out of the Golden Girls playbook by crashing a party? Luke promises to not rat Lola out…as long as she helps him with a little problem: his family reunion. Due to his own issues, he’s sworn off commitment, but his family aren’t on board with that decision, so clearly the best thing to do is bring a pretend girlfriend along, right? (Let’s all collectively roll our eyes at this…) The number one thing I learned from this book is that I need to watch The Golden Girls. Each […]

Review, Excerpt, & Giveaway: The First Time at Firelight Falls by Julie Anne Long

The Faerie Queen’s review Again, I have been surprised and delighted by a book. I mean, I was already on board for a book about a single mom and a principal – just think of the sexual fantasies wrapped up in that one – but I wasn’t expecting to love this as much as I did. If I ever become a single mom, I want to be Eden and have hot-as-sin relationship with the principal. Plus, then I’d have the coolest kid and some awesome family around me. Because, honestly, Annelise was awesome. She’s 10, she’s clever, she’s polite, and she has an awesome relationship with her mom. They’re friends. And, you know what they say, kids say the darnedest things, which applies to Annelise 100%. I know, I know. A romance book shouldn’t be all about a kid, but 1 of my stars is genuinely because of what a […]
