Teaser: The Inheritance by Mika Lane

Since January, the Faerie Queen hasn’t been able to stop with the reverse harems, and today, she’s got a few teasers from the newly released RH novel The Inheritance by Mika Lane! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Teasers! God, they were both gorgeous—Nat with his preppy, chiseled looks, and Linc with his short ponytail and facial scruff—each of them bringing their own unique brand of sexy to the table. But there was something about the two of them together, as if they were feeding off one another. Their combined sensuality was way more intense than merely taking each’s lust and adding it together; it was as if two plus two equaled way more than four. Move into some goddamn mansion with a bunch of other guys so she could choose one of us? That was the stupidest […]

Excerpt: For the Sake of His Heir by Joanne Rock

Today seems like a good day for a snowball fight, and we’ve got just that thanks to this excerpt from For the Sake of His Heir by Joanne Rock! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Brianne was busy scooping up another snowball, scraping red gloves through the foot of accumulation on the wooden deck. She’d traded her wool cape for a red down parka and boots. A gray knit cap was pulled low over her eyes, her ponytail covered with snow and hanging bedraggled over one shoulder. His loafers would be ruined, but he had no intention of leaving the aggression unanswered, especially after he’d heard that laughter of hers. Had she moved on from their earlier disagreement? Or simply found an outlet for her frustration with him? He’d thought dinner would smooth things over between them, […]

Review & Excerpt: The Bastard’s Bargain by Katee Robert

The Faerie Queen’s review This is the sixth book in The O’Malleys series, but the first I’ve read. That maaaay have been a mistake. I thought it might be like other romance series, where there are references to some previous characters and events, but the story itself is contained for the most part. Nope. You are better off reading this as part of a series, as I learned when I was completely confused for the first chapter or two. Even once I’d gotten into this story, there were references to other characters and previous events that kept me from fully enjoying the narrative. That being said, I did actually enjoy this! This is one for those of you who like organised crime families, darkness, and power plays. The relationship between Dmitri and Keira can be very aptly described as love-hate, with all that anger and attempts to control each other infused […]

Review: North to You by Tif Marcelo

The GingerSnap’s review I picked this book as part of our “Foodie February” theme, and oooh am I glad I did! I love any romance that somehow includes food in the plot, and this book delivered. I was drooling every time the word “panini” was mentioned, and by the time cake pops were being crafted, I was so hungry I was ready to raid my kitchen, book in hand. This book follows the trials and tribulations of Camille Marino and Drew Bautista. Camille is the owner of Lucianna, a food truck that she runs with her best friend, Jasmine. The truck is dedicated to turning out delicious Italian-inspired eats that Camille crafts herself, using the knowledge and prowess her grandmother taught her. Camille is also the sole guardian of her little sister, Ally, a talented young artist with big dreams. Between juggling the truck and Ally, Camille’s plate is already pretty […]

Excerpt: Tempest by Beverly Jenkins

Hiya, and welcome back! Today, we’re giving you a little taste of Tempest by Beverly Jenkins, the third book in her Old West series! First, here’s a bit more about the book. About the book Excerpt “Being shot tends to make a man short-tempered. . .” She held his gaze unflinchingly. Despite his doubts concerning her suitability, Colt found himself drawn to the determination she radiated. “I can cook, set a proper table, and have impeccable manners. I speak English and Spanish. I hunt, fish, swim, and ride. I’d hoped to find a husband who’d view these qualities as assets, but if you’re seeking what society considers a proper wife who’ll defer to you in all things, and spend time sitting in a rocker with an embroidery hoop in her hand, you should say so and I’ll return to Arizona.” Colt blinked. He didn’t know any woman with the pluck to toss down […]

A Month in Review: January 2018

Another month has come and gone, and now it’s time for some reflection! Links in this post will take you to Amazon. Buying through these links helps us to keep LiatoF running, so thank you so much in advance! What we read The Faerie Queen I only read a few pure romance books this month, though I’m including some of the romance + genre books I read as well. As for straight romance, I read Trouble with Gold by Melinda Dozier, Elements of Mischief and Elements of Ruin by C.M. Stunich and Tate James, Withering Hope by Layla Hagen, and His Outback Nanny by Annie Seaton. Of these, my favourite was Withering Hope, which I listened to addictively on audiobook. I think I have an unexplored love of survival stories. Other books I read that were romance but also genre-y were The DUFF by Kody Keplinger (YA contemporary), Lions and Tigers and Boys by Tawny Stokes […]

Excerpt: Drakon’s Past by N.J. Walters

Hellooooo there! If you’re a fan of dragon-shifter books, how about snacking on Drakon’s Past by N.J. Walters! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Constance blinked. She heard Abigail scream and some of the men yell. Nic had to be about fifteen feet long, and that wasn’t including his long, powerful tail, which was tucked around him. He rose on his back legs and released his wings. The spread had to be at least double the size of his body. Nic was a dragon. She shook her head. Impossible. Nic. Was. A. Dragon. She’d had sex with a dragon. She was in love with a bloody dragon. How was this even possible? Then she remembered what Nic had told her about Dent and how the group he belonged to wanted to capture him and drink his blood. She […]

Review: A Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase

Review: A Duke in Shining Armor by Loretta Chase

The GingerSnap’s review I tried. I really tried. I tried to read this whole book, but 40% in, I had to DNF. The reasons? There are so many. Number one: The entire time I was reading this book, I felt like I was missing some piece of the puzzle. This book is the first in the “Difficult Dukes” series, but there are so many off-handed references or hints to things the Dukes had said or done previously that I felt left out like I wasn’t privy to some aspects of the characters’ lives, which made it hard to really get into the story. Number two: The heroine, Olympia, is described in the book synopsis as “bookish, bespectacled”, which is problematic in and of itself because this description is used to contrast the gorgeousness of her soon-to-be husband, which is so not feminist, and we all know that being bookish and […]
