Review & Excerpt: Trouble With Gold by Melinda Dozier

The Faerie Queen’s review This is going to be a short review because the book was a short novella! Trouble With Gold was cute and fun, getting me in the mood for the Winter Olympics (opening in 3 weeks!), but it was not without its faults. Occurring over the space of the games, Nadia accidentally stumbles across snowboarder Ty, handcuffed in only his boxers and boots as part of an initiation. He immediately drawn to her, especially since she is so in control. It was pretty stereotypical in this regard: Ty is American and therefore fun-loving and a little reckless, while Nadia is an uptight Swiss with a desire to achieve and always be on time. Over the next few weeks, Nadia experiences a war between heart and head. Being a novella, it was really short, and I feel like it was unnecessarily so. A novella is no excuse to skimp on character […]

Review: Elements of Mischief by C.M. Stunich & Tate James

Review: Elements of Mischief by C.M. Stunich & Tate James

The Faerie Queen’s review I was a little nervous about reading this because both authors wrote for the Snow & Seduction reverse harem anthology that I have not been able to get through. The anthology is a bit of a mess, and doesn’t look like it’s been edited at all (for content or typos). But I am happy to report that Elements of Mischief is actually a lot of fun and has clearly gone through all the right stages of publication! Reverse harems tend to have the same cast of men – the bad boy, the calming presence, the horndog, and the charming leader – and this was no different. In case you’re wondering: Billy (fire), George (earth), Reg (water), and Skeeter (air). But I sort of expected as much, and while not necessarily original, it was dependably entertaining and sexy. They could be a bit much sometimes, especially Reg, who was […]

Review: Glutton for Pleasure by Alisha Rai

Review: Glutton for Pleasure by Alisha Rai

The GingerSnap’s review I’ve been wanting to read Alisha Rai’s back catalogue of books for a while, and LiatoF’s Reverse Harem Month gave me the perfect opportunity to read this, her first book. When I read the introduction to the book and realised it was about two brothers falling in love with the same girl, I was intrigued, but wary. I’m all for reverse harem and menage romances, but haven’t read any involving family members due to my fear that the book would involve incest. I should’ve kept my faith in Alisha, however, because she managed to build a believable, incest-free, crazy-hot romance between Devi and brothers Jace and Marcus that had me nearly fanning myself at certain points of the book. Devi Malik is the head chef at her parent’s family-owned Indian restaurant, and after a serious romantic dry spell, her sister decides it’s time to spice up Devi’s […]

Excerpt: The Bastard’s Bargain by Katee Robert

The O’Malleys series comes to a close next month with The Bastard’s Bargain by Katee Robert! We’ve got an excerpt for you, plus a little teaser… First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt It wasn’t until the front door closed behind Ivan that the reality of her situation sank in. Dmitri was furious. He might have faked it for his friend, but he stood next to her, a pillar of stone with anger coming off him in waves. His grip on her elbow didn’t hurt, but if she’d tried to leave, he would have restrained her. She should be afraid. She should be terrified. Keira’s heartbeat picked up, adrenaline kicking in. She swung to face him with a fierce smile on her face. “You didn’t compliment me on my dress.” It was a work of fucking art. She […]

Excerpt: On the Edge by Dani Collins

If hate-to-love is your kinda romance, we’ve got an excerpt from a new fiesty romance: On the Edge by Dani Collins! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Dani Collins shares fast facts! The working title for On The Edge was Uphill Battles. Glory is a romance author, like me! Also like me: she’s sarcastic, an introvert, and swears a lot. Glory writes a no-room-at-the-inn Christmas romance called Blessed Winter. You read it as you read On The Edge. My husband calls it ‘a book within a book.’ Murphy, the dog that Rolf’s brother brings to the lodge and leaves with him (against Rolf’s will!) is real. My brother-in-law rescued him two years ago. The name Blue Spruce Lodge is in memory of my grandmother. She loved Blue Spruce trees. (And romance novels, as do I!) Excerpt “I’m saying […]

Review: Wilde in Love by Eloisa James

Review: Wilde in Love by Eloisa James

The GingerSnap’s review I think of Eloisa James as one of the queens of the regency romance genre, which also happens to be my all-time favourite romance sub-genre, so you can bet I was excited to pick up her latest book. The story follows the romance between Willa, a society darling just finishing her first very successful season, and Alaric, an adventurous aristocrat just back from travelling around the world. Alaric is a famous author whose travels have been made into a bawdy play that has made much of his intrepid and supposedly rather rakish nature, which leads Willa to be cautious in her interactions with him. One thing I loved about this book was the role reversal; Alaric is the emotive, passionate character, while Willa is cautious, reserved, and cerebral, completely dismantling the idea that women have to be the emotional partner in a relationship. I also loved that Willa […]

Review: The Bollywood Bride by Sonali Dev

Review: The Bollywood Bride by Sonali Dev

The GingerSnap’s review I was so excited to read this book. My experience with Sonali Dev novels thus far has taught me that if I’m going to read one, it’s best to do it on a day/s when I don’t have a lot planned, because there is no way I’m going to get anything done with my attention so completely focused on her story. This story was in keeping with that theme; I didn’t even notice my train had arrived at my stop because I was so gripped! This book tells us the second chance romance story of Ria and Vikram, two childhood sweethearts who are seeing each other for the first time in 10 years at their friend’s wedding. Much has happened to change both of them for better and worse, but the chemistry between them ignites the moment they lock eyes on each other again, and that sexual […]

Excerpt and Sale: Falling for Her Brother’s Best Friend by Noelle Adams

Happy New Year! Sorry, I just had to have a gif of Nyle DiMarco. He can teach me ASL any day. Mmm. What better way to kick off the new year than with a free book? Today, I’ve got an excerpt from Falling for Her Brother’s Best Friend by Noelle Adams, which just so happens to be on sale at the moment to celebrate the release next week of the final book in the Tea for Two series, Seducing Her Brother’s Best Friend! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Noah felt an emotional pull toward her, that she seemed to understand him so well, even when he wasn’t sure he understood himself. But he shouldn’t—he really shouldn’t—be feeling that way. He cleared his throat. “And I noticed your Man-Fast flew out the window.” She gasped and straightened her spine, which […]
