#BookReview: GOODBYE, PERFECT by Sara Barnard

#BookReview: GOODBYE, PERFECT by Sara Barnard

Several years ago, a 15-year-old girl and her 30-year-old teacher ran away together. I can remember seeing it show up in news stories, but other than to think “that’s gross!”, I didn’t really give it much thought. It wasn’t happening to anyone in my life, nor was it happening anywhere near me, so what could I do? I’m betting Sara Barnard didn’t stop thinking about that story and how it must have felt to be caught up in the realness of it all, as that’s almost exactly what happens in Goodbye, Perfect. But instead of writing in third person, or […]

#BookReview: NOCTURNE by Kat Ross

#BookReview: NOCTURNE by Kat Ross

Nocturne is the first instalment in a new trilogy by Kat Ross, one tied to her previous trilogy The Fourth Element. Other reviewers who haven’t read the first trilogy say you can read this book just fine, but you’ll get more enjoyment out of it by reading both series, as you’ll know the history of the land, and the relationship between Nazafareen and Darius. I do really recommend the first trilogy, though, so it shouldn’t be a burden at all. You can read my review of The Midnight Sea to get started! But, my dear fellow readers, it was a joy to reunite […]

#BookReview: DEAR DWAYNE, WITH LOVE

#BookReview: DEAR DWAYNE, WITH LOVE

I laughed and I laughed. Review done. Ok, but seriously, after a bit of a wobbly start for me, I really enjoyed this. It’s just as fun as the cover suggests! Dani is an aspiring actress and reluctant health insurance professional, stuck in Portland as the least successful daughter of “Mommy”. She’s obsessed with the Rock and sees him as the “perfect man”, a useful stand-in for the father that abandoned them and the less-than-perfect semi-boyfriend she’s got because she has no other prospects. She loves pastries and burgers and all sorts of things her Amazing Big Sister – a […]

#Interview: Megan Gaudino, author of SUGAR LUMP

#Interview: Megan Gaudino, author of SUGAR LUMP

Is it completely shallow of me to be really happy that I’ve finally got a book cover on here that matches my blog’s colour scheme? Doesn’t that banner above just look so good on this page? Yeah, very vain and shallow. i know, I know. But honestly, I do really love the cover for Megan Gaudino’s newest release, Sugar Lump, about a photography-loving girl who travels to the too-good-to-be-true town of Sugar Lump. Find out more about CC (the main character), Megan’s love of road trips, and the books Megan is looking forward to down below! And don’t forget to enter […]

Month in Review: January 2018 (+February #TBR)

Month in Review: January 2018 (+February #TBR)

Wow, one month already down in 2018. I swear time goes by faster and faster. Reading wise, I’ve had a fairly good month, with 16 books read, but I’ve been in a massive blogging slump. My awaiting-review shelf on Goodreads is getting longer, and it’s making me feel massively guilty, but it’s hard for me to focus. It’s not that I haven’t had time, as I have had pockets of good writing time; it’s just been a case of lack of motivation. On top of that, I’ve had an ongoing health problem since October, and a cold on top of […]
