Review: Heat Wave by Karina Halle

The Faerie Queen’s review Have you ever procrastinated a review for so long that when you finally come to write it, it’s eight months later and you’re like damn. Yes, it’s been a while, but I’m going to spin this in my favour. You see, this way you’ll know what the really memorable aspects were, and not just my giddy feelings right after finishing. Ok, so what do I remember the most? WELL. This book was hot as hell. Sexual tension and rough sex abound. Yes, rough and dominating and woah. Yeah, there’s a plot, but it revolves around two people who shouldn’t be together but who can’t help but need each other, at least in the physical sense. Why shouldn’t they be together? Because Logan and Ronnie have a past. Logan married Ronnie’s perfect sister, started a hotel with her in Hawaii, and then lost her in a car […]

Excerpt: Almost Jamie by Gina Robinson

In honour of the release of the book, we’ve returned to give you a little taste of Almost Jamie by Gina Robinson! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Austin pulled me past Jet City Comicon’s VIP waiting area to the front of the general admission crowd waiting to see the stars of Jamie. He seemed energized. Several fan clubs gathered together at the front of the line, wearing buttons and holding banners. He approached the throng and blew them kisses. “Lovely ladies!” Suddenly, Austin was Jamie, as played by Connor, right down to the convincing, and sexy, Scottish accent. The cheering crowd felt his charisma and did a collective swoon. I was so close to him, I was nearly bowled over by the switch and power of personality. “Beautiful lasses, I’m sorry to disappoint you. Especially as you’re […]

Review: Some Kind of Magic by Mary Ann Marlowe

Review: Some Kind of Magic by Mary Ann Marlowe

The Faerie Queen’s review I knew I was going to like this one, but I didn’t realise I would like it as much as I did! What a pleasant surprise! I liked both Eden and Adam from the start. Eden was relatable in so many ways, from her interest in biology and genetics (YAY STEM) to her desire to find a guy with a stable job (but, ya know, that goes out the window fairly quickly). I loved Adam and how down-to-Earth he was (now). Their chemistry was really well-written, though I never felt consumed by it. I LOVED that Adam wasn’t Broken, which is the rock star stereotype in books. In fact, I think part of the conflict in the book came down to Eden thinking he’d be like a rock star stereotype, partying all the time and sleeping around, even when his words and behaviour showed he wasn’t. As with 90% […]

Excerpt: Almost Wrong by Aubrey Parker

Hiya, and welcome back! Today, we’re giving you a little taste of Almost Wrong by Aubrey Parker! If you’re looking for some steamy step-sibling taboo romance, this one is for you. We’ve got two different excerpts, the second of which is pretty explicit, so proceed with caution, and maybe a fan. 😉 First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt The Tame One “I guess we should talk,” Angela says. I’m still wearing my tux shirt and pants, because going into the other room to change when she has nothing to swap seems rude. But at least I’ve ditched the jacket and tie. My sleeves are rolled up. She touches my forearm and gives me a chill I haven’t felt in forever. “About what?” I ask. “About us.” I run a multibillion-dollar empire. I could buy and sell countries. People […]
