She winced and twisted her head, a mumbled curse tumbling past her lips. A wave of dizziness swept over her; her stomach clenched painfully. Lana froze and swallowed the rush of bile shooting up her throat. Hot daggers stabbed at her temples. She moaned softly. It was a moment before she realized she was lying on her front on a bed. She stared blearily at the crisp white pillow in her line of sight before rolling over carefully onto her side. She studied the room she was in with […]

Excerpt: Player by Staci Hart

I’m in the middle of reading Piece of Work starring Rin, and I am loving it. Seriously. I’ll have a review up for you guys soon. In the meantime, the next book in the collection was released a few days ago, and I’m here to tease you with an excerpt, this time featuring Rin’s friend Val! So sit back and enjoy a little piece of Player by Staci Hart. About the book Excerpt The night flew by, time speeding up and sliding past with nothing to mark the hours but his laughter and my smiles and our bodies bouncing around the parquet like we had nothing in the world to do but dance. I had no idea how late it was until “New York, New York” came on with the house lights. Sam hooked me under his arm and guided me out into the chilly fall evening. Like an idiot, I’d come […]

Excerpt: Dream by Carly Phillips

Hey readers, I am so tired today. I made the mistake of starting to watch Mean Girls last night at 11pm, so I only got a little more than 5 hours of sleep last night. I feel like I’ve been hit by a bus. Anyway, today I’m excited to share a little piece of Dream by Carly Phillips! This new second-chance romance is releasing on October 16, but preorder links are ready for you. 😉 About the book Excerpt “I didn’t mean to drag you away from Kimberly. You two seemed to be hitting it off.” He didn’t pull his hand away from her face, struck by the tinge of something in her voice. Jealousy? And if so, why did it please him that she cared? “Kimberly was like a leech who wouldn’t let go. She even used her sick brother’s story to hang on to me. I wasn’t doing anything […]

Review & Excerpt: Hot for His Girl by Rachel Blaufeld

The Faerie Queen’s review When I first learned about this book, I knew I needed to Get My Hands On It. A romance between two bloggers? Hell. Yeah. In what universe would I not want to read this??? (And then to learn the author is a mom and blogger, like the heroine? It means this book is going to be authentic af. Well, as authentic as a romance novel can be.) READERS. Nothing prepared me for the perfection that is Reid. As a recently single person considering what I want in my next relationship, I think all future prospects have been ruined by Reid. He’s kind, considerate, intelligent, caring, funny, romantic, hot af… He’s completely accepting of the fact that Andi is a single mom with lots of responsibilities. He can cook – or grill – and well. He’s looking for a real, meaningful relationship. He is a blogger and understands the work that […]

Review & Excerpt: The Evolution of Man by Skye Warren

Review & Excerpt: The Evolution of Man by Skye Warren

The Faerie Queen’s review You can read my review for the first book, Survival of the Richest, here, but below are the main points: The complexity of the relationships between the main characters was incredible. I couldn’t untangle the love triangle. The chemistry between all three was intense. Money was a massively toxic influence in everyone’s lives. Well, dear readers, The Evolution of Man was thankfully great for all the same reasons. I really felt for Harper. In the first book, she lost her father to a sudden heart attack. In this book, she must sit back and watch as her mother succumbs to late-stage cancer, too late for treatment if her mother even wanted it. There is so much pain in this book, and really, the whole book is about her dealing with it in various ways. First and foremost, she seeks out physical distractions from the two men her in love/lust […]

Things are slow-going over here at Love in a time of Feminism. I, your Faerie Queen, am pulling myself together finally. Finally. (Although I’ve been told I’m trying to rush recovery, but oh well.) I’m slowly reading a bit more, and I’m trying to get back into blogging properly again. So I’m here with a slightly belated cover reveal for Player by Staci Hart, a romantic comedy for those of you who love a reformed player! The cover! Does anyone else have a thing for freckles? I think of them as “skin constellations”… so pretty… I want to trace them… About the book Subscribe to Blog via Email Enter your email address to subscribe to this blog and receive notifications of new posts by email. Review: A Nordic King by Karina Halle

Review: A Nordic King by Karina Halle

The Faerie Queen’s review Once again, Karina Halle proves why she’s an autobuy author for me. I have loved every single book I’ve read by her since I was told to read Smut two years ago. Plus, her covers are always beyond sexy and just pop. Right from the start, this was giving me The Sound of Music vibes. A young woman (26) gets a job as a nanny for a grumpy older widower’s (40) children, and she brings life and joy back to the household. There was even (really bad) singing. As a fan of TSOM, I was completely ok with this connection. Of course, there were some differences. For a start, the widower in this case was the king of Denmark, and he didn’t use whistles to communicate with his two daughters. In fact, Aksel loved his girls and was very affectionate with them… when he saw them. And the nanny […]

Review, First Chapter & Giveaway: Shameless by Cherrie Lynn

The Faerie Queen’s review This is a novella for those of you who want an espresso shot of the brother’s best friend trope. Meredith gets a kick up the backside while on holiday with her brother and friends, including Cam, her brother’s best friend since childhood. After crushing on Cam for a long time, she makes her move, but will Cam be receptive? Because it was so short, I didn’t get too invested in the story. Novellas can be a struggle because there’s not a lot of time to introduce the reader to new characters and develop their relationship. Luckily, for this one, while it did feel a bit rushed at times, I was glad that there was a long history between the two main characters, and that they’d had romantic feelings for each other for a lot of that time. I personally had an issue that others might not. […]
