Review: Seared by Suleikha Snyder

The Faerie Queen’s review I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO BE A BDSM STORY. Ok, now that that’s out there, I can breathe again. I don’t mind BDSM stories, and I’ve enjoyed several in the past, but it would have been nice to know it was one going in. But honestly, that was torture, and not of a good kind. It started out ok, if a bit more on the erotica-sans-plot side. Then a plot was introduced, but I never cared. Because I couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters. Fine, I cared enough to force myself to the finish line, but only because the book is like 150 pages long. And yet it took a lot of willpower to read one page after the next. But I got there, and I can say with 100% certainty that this book and I were not meant for each other. […]

Review: Elements of Mischief by C.M. Stunich & Tate James

Review: Elements of Mischief by C.M. Stunich & Tate James

The Faerie Queen’s review I was a little nervous about reading this because both authors wrote for the Snow & Seduction reverse harem anthology that I have not been able to get through. The anthology is a bit of a mess, and doesn’t look like it’s been edited at all (for content or typos). But I am happy to report that Elements of Mischief is actually a lot of fun and has clearly gone through all the right stages of publication! Reverse harems tend to have the same cast of men – the bad boy, the calming presence, the horndog, and the charming leader – and this was no different. In case you’re wondering: Billy (fire), George (earth), Reg (water), and Skeeter (air). But I sort of expected as much, and while not necessarily original, it was dependably entertaining and sexy. They could be a bit much sometimes, especially Reg, who was […]

Review: With This Collar by Sierra Cartwright

The Faerie Queen’s review Uh. So yeah. This one was free in a BookBub email, and I was intrigued… This is the first BDSM erotic romance I’ve ever read. (No, I haven’t read 50 Shades of Grey, for several reasons.) I was curious to try it, especially given the description (independent woman tries the lifestyle out for a night for ‘research’ purposes) and the reviews (exposes 50 Shades as terrible). So I went for it. WELL, MY DEARIES. I can tell you two things. It was educational. By contrasting Marcus and Julia’s controlling ex, it showed how BDSM does not automatically equal being abusive (though that’s not to say there aren’t abusive Doms). So much care was put into showing that everything is consensual, and explaining how BDSM can work in various ways for various people, all to their tastes. Safety, consent, and communication were repeatedly brought up. I’ve read […]

Excerpt: Girl Within Girl, Unraveling by S.P. Aruna

Hiya, and welcome back! Today, we’re giving you a little taste of Girl Within Girl: Unraveling by S.P. Aruna! First, here’s a bit more about the book! About the book Chapter 1 – KATRINA That morning, April 11, 2016, could very well have been a turning point in my life, the morning I awoke and didn’t know where I was, and even more frightening, who I was. In my bed, I was rising out of a foggy void that separated dreams from drowsy wakefulness, when, in a flash of alarm, I bolted upright to sit up, frantically looking around me. I could almost hear the whirring of the cogs in my head as my mind searched its recesses for the answers. My surroundings slowly focused into a scene of familiarity: my Hemnes six-drawer dresser, my Morvik wardrobe with the full-length mirror, the Gaugin print hanging on the white stucco wall just beside […]
