Review, First Chapter & Giveaway: Three-Way Split by Elia Winters

The Faerie Queen’s review I know I’ve gotten into reverse harem this year, which you could argue can be a form of polyamory, I’d say the subgenre is still very much a sensual/sexual fantasy geared towards women who like the idea of multiple men fawning over them. And who can blame them? It is a lovely fantasy! But I seem to have stumbled upon a menage romance that is actually about polyamory, where the two men are not there to worship the woman but actually have a relationship between them. And it helps to know that the author has actual experience with polyamory. Because the end result is a book that’s both red-hot and pretty educational! I think the first big thing to note about Three-Way Split is that the book is very heavy on the sex. I mean, I’m not going to complain because it was really sexy, but this definitely counts […]

He appeared a second later with a bottle in one hand, two lemons in his other. “Tequila.” I snorted out a laugh. “My favourite cocktail mixer. A shot of tequila with a dash of good intentions and you have a cocktail aptly named ‘What the Fuck Have I Done?’.” Stuart laughed as he trudged up the stairs. His towel was long gone; just his tiny scrap of swimwear remained. “Well, two What the Fuck Have I Dones? coming right up.” He sat back beside me and held up the bottle. “What even is […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: A Gentleman Never Keeps Score by Cat Sebastian

Queen of LGBTQ+ historical fiction Cat Sebastian is back with A Gentleman Never Keeps Score, and we have an excerpt! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Now that he had this stranger in his library, Hartley was having misgivings about the soundness of his plan. First, this man was significantly larger than anyone needed to be. The Hepplewhite chair hardly contained him. Hartley had good reasons for not feeling particularly at ease around large men, but this man didn’t seem threatening. He sat in that chair as if it were a church pew, his hat politely on his lap. Hartley started to lower himself into the matching chair beside his guest, but then thought better of it and perched on the edge of a table, enjoying a false but comforting sense of height. Second, it was unwise to trust […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker

Two men must face their pasts and open themselves up to love again in Galaxies and Oceans by N.R. Walker, released this week. Enjoy an excerpt to get you going down below, plus enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card! About the book Excerpt Aubrey Patrick had put out two bowls of minestrone-style soup and what looked like home-baked bread. “Do you make your own bread?” I asked. Patrick sat down quietly opposite me. “Only when I make soup.” “Well, this looks incredible.” It really did. Being cold and hungry, it didn’t get any better than homemade soup and bread. I tasted a small spoonful of the soup. “Okay, wow.” He finally smiled and relaxed. “Thanks.” “You’re a really good cook.” “Just for the homely stuff. I’m not much good at that fancy kind of cooking.” “This,” I gestured to the food he’d put on the table, “is better than any […]

Review: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

Review: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee

The GingerSnap’s review If it was possible to give a book 5+ stars, I would absolutely to do it for this wonderful, wonderful, WONDERFUL book. This is hands-down one of the best books I’ve read this year. The writing is so rich and vivid I felt like I was there in every scene, Monty is so achingly funny that I found myself snorting at inopportune moments, and I was practically jumping for joy when Monty and Percy finally admitted their feelings to one another. I’ve always loved historical fiction, but I’m ashamed to say this is only the second LGBTQ historical romance I’ve ever read. I requested it from the library after literally every reader in romancelandia raved about it months and years on end, and I couldn’t put it down. I wanted to read it again the moment I finished it. Do you ever read a book that makes you […]

Review & Excerpt: A Scot’s Surrender by Lily Maxton

Review & Excerpt: A Scot’s Surrender by Lily Maxton

The Faerie Queen’s review Fan of Scottish Highlanders? British Aristocrats? Hate-to-love tropes? Historical romances? This might just be the book for you! I really enjoyed this! There was a palpable tension between Ian and Robert, the two heroes, from the very beginning, and once Ian loosened up, some good banter. I particularly liked Robert, a very personable guy on the outside who sought to put everyone at ease, but who hid his insecurities and the fact that he wrote Gothic novels. Alongside the romance between these two was also a slightly humour mystery. For the record, I had an inkling about the mystery from the beginning. Don’t ask me how; I don’t even really read mysteries, but I just knew. High five, me. Ok, now some more serious stuff. This week has been a week of firsts for me. Earlier this week, I read my first novel written in verse (The […]

Excerpt: Abroad Book Two by Liz Jacobs

Happy Friday! We’ve got another excerpt for you today, this time from Abroad Book Two by Liz Jacobs! As usual, we’ll start with some information about the book, and you’ll find a giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt A shift next to Nick, then a sigh. He froze. Had he woken Dex up after all? He waited as Dex moved behind him, and then the futon shifted. Dex was up. Nick turned over, only to see him escape quietly out of the study. Nick took advantage of it and shifted into a position he could maybe fall asleep in, provided he could shut his fucking brain up. God, sleeping next to another person was stressful as hell. He and Lena did it rarely enough that he had never managed to get used to it. Dex didn’t seem to have this problem. Again, Nick’s lack of experience made him squirm. Dex […]

Review: Rare and Beautiful Things by Giselle Fox

The Faerie Queen’s review I must be the blackest of black sheep with this book, as almost all of the reviews on Goodreads are 4 or 5 stars. Everyone raves about the characters and how sweet the romance is. Me? I think this gif sums it up. Three years ago, Nikki and Amber met on a boat, felt an initial attraction, and then quickly parted ways because Amber got freaked out by another woman paying Nikki attention. Skip to present-day, and Amber’s in Belize studying jaguars when, lo and behold, Nikki shows up with her dive team. Nikki doesn’t hide that she wants to get all up in Amber’s business, and Amber is awkward and scientific about it all, not letting it happen despite acknowledging that she is experiencing arousal. This was not sexy. I get it; Amber is a virgin scientist, but that doesn’t mean she needs to be […]
