Interview & Giveaway: All That Jazz by Natasha Boyd

Hey everyone! Today, we’re joined by Natasha Boyd, author of All That Jazz and so many more, for a special Q&A! See what Natasha thinks about writing romantic comedies and overcoming writer’s block. Plus, we have an extra special giveaway for our UK readers… FOUR signed copies of All That Jazz, plus swag!!! Interview with Natasha Boyd You’ve written quite a few books! What themes do you try to include in each of them? I never try per se, but I do find that most of my books have a few elements in common that I guess reflect my values. Those are that my heroines are independent, or struggling to be independent. They are strong in the ways that count, even if they have weak moments, or cry and get upset sometimes, at their core they are resilient and don’t stand for being pushed around. Their big struggle is usually how to rely on […]

Review: Level Me Up by Lauren Helms

Review: Level Me Up by Lauren Helms

The Faerie Queen’s review I have found my niche: gamer romances. I’m a gamer myself (though not of FPS… first person shooters), and the Boyf loves his DOTA2. I’m only just discovering that there’s a whole subgenre of geeky new adult and adult contemporary romance. And this even fits the sports romance theme this month, as esports is a legit thing! (It brought in $1.5b in revenue in 2017, and The International 2017 winners won $10,862,683. That’s the biggest DOTA2 major, and yes, I watched some of the games with the Boyf.) Everything started out really great. I started listening on my way to a convention – RARE18 London, a huge romance event in fact. I thought it was fitting when the book starts at ComicCon (and I am actually going to the London Film & Comic Con with my boyfriend in July). Bookish Morgan tags along with her friend […]

Review: Attraction by Penny Reid

The GingerSnap’s review A few weeks ago I downloaded the second book in this series on a whim, and after realising that I had inadvertently read the middle of a series, I knew I had to go back and read the first book, to better understand Martin and Kaitlyn’s love stories. But honestly, that was 4 hours and 36 minutes of my life I wish I had back. The Elements of Chemistry series follows lab partners Martin and Kaitlyn, who have been harbouring secret crushes for each other all semester, unbeknownst to each other. Things come to a head one day while Kaitlyn is hiding in the chemistry closet and overhears one of Martin’s rugby teammates plotting to drug Martin and take advantage of him and his family fortune. Closet kisses happen, then Kaitlyn divulgies the details of this plot to Martin, he takes a leap and makes his feelings […]

Review: Consort of Secrets by Eva Chase

The Faerie Queen’s review Ever since Reverse Harem Month, I’ve been keeping an eye on the subgenre. There’s something extra delightfully naughty about not having to choose between your favourite types of heroes. You can have the bad boy, the nice guy, the dark and handsome figure… It may not be common in real life, but romance allows us to explore our fantasies, and having a group to give you the love you desire (physically and emotionally) is actually a rather nice one. And you know what? This was a rather nice reverse harem story. It was easy to read, and very quick, too. It didn’t take long to jump onto the action, and I had my suspicions and hopes set from the very beginning. The Big Bad was somewhat of a stereotype, but I was fine with that. And as much as I love my romance, it was sort […]

Review: All Played Out by Cora Carmack

Review: All Played Out by Cora Carmack

The GingerSnap’s review Sports. I like them. But not American football. The games are too long, the whistle is constantly called, the rules are confusing, and there’s not nearly enough fighting. Give me rugby or ice hockey any day. So you might be wondering why I chose a football book to review. This book intrigued me because of 1. lady scientist 2. to-do list 3. hot dude. I really enjoyed it, and if every football romance can focus less on the football and more on the football player, I might just read a few more. This book follows the love story of Mateo ‘Teo’ Torres and Antonella ‘Nell’ De Luca. Teo is a hot, gregarious football player at Rusk University. He’s laser-focused on making it to the NFL one day, and after his last relationship went sour, he’s reluctant to get seriously involved with anyone who might not understand his […]

Review: Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe

Review: Ball Peen Hammer by Lauren Rowe

The Faerie Queen’s review I loved this book because it surprised the hell out of me. I didn’t expect to enjoy a book about a male stripper. I didn’t expect to love a self-proclaimed man-whore. I didn’t expect said stripper to throw out so much wisdom about what women deserve, particularly in the sack. I didn’t expect to learn about my own damn anatomy from a book about a male stripper/player. I didn’t expect to question by own prejudices. But, my people, I did. Keane Morgan initially grated on my nerves. He came across as self-important, and his frequent use of terms like “babydoll” made me shudder. Maybe I should have paid more attention to the blurb; Maddie was just as annoyed with Keane at first, but he won us both over, slowly but surely. Well done to Lauren Rowe for making me fall in love with a male stripper […]

Guest Post: Nicole Sobon, author of Collide, on her journey to publication

Hi everyone! We have a special guest post for you from Nicole Sobon, author of Collide, the first in a novella series! Today, Nicole will be talking about the road to release. You can also find out more about her book and enter a giveaway at the end! Publishing Collide I’d always enjoyed writing and spent most of my teenage years writing songs and poems that I typically only shared with close friends. However, around 2010, I decided to try my hand at writing a book and signed up for NaNoWriMo. To my surprise, I completed the challenge and ended up with a very uneven, and far from finished edition of Capture, the first book in my Lunica City Duet. While I knew I still had plenty of room to grow and was in no way ready to approach publishers, I continued to write each and every day, finishing my second novel – Program 13 […]

Teaser: The Inheritance by Mika Lane

Since January, the Faerie Queen hasn’t been able to stop with the reverse harems, and today, she’s got a few teasers from the newly released RH novel The Inheritance by Mika Lane! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Teasers! God, they were both gorgeous—Nat with his preppy, chiseled looks, and Linc with his short ponytail and facial scruff—each of them bringing their own unique brand of sexy to the table. But there was something about the two of them together, as if they were feeding off one another. Their combined sensuality was way more intense than merely taking each’s lust and adding it together; it was as if two plus two equaled way more than four. Move into some goddamn mansion with a bunch of other guys so she could choose one of us? That was the stupidest […]

Review: North to You by Tif Marcelo

Review: North to You by Tif Marcelo

The GingerSnap’s review I picked this book as part of our “Foodie February” theme, and oooh am I glad I did! I love any romance that somehow includes food in the plot, and this book delivered. I was drooling every time the word “panini” was mentioned, and by the time cake pops were being crafted, I was so hungry I was ready to raid my kitchen, book in hand. This book follows the trials and tribulations of Camille Marino and Drew Bautista. Camille is the owner of Lucianna, a food truck that she runs with her best friend, Jasmine. The truck is dedicated to turning out delicious Italian-inspired eats that Camille crafts herself, using the knowledge and prowess her grandmother taught her. Camille is also the sole guardian of her little sister, Ally, a talented young artist with big dreams. Between juggling the truck and Ally, Camille’s plate is already pretty […]
