Review: He’s a Brute and She’s a Spitfire by Chloe Liese

Hey hey hey! It’s my birthday month, and I’m kicking things off with a 2-for-1 special! This is technically the blog tour for book 2 in the in Tough Love series, but I read He’s a Brute and She’s a Spitfire back-to-back, so you’re getting a review for both in one go. The Faerie Queen’s review Here are a list of things I like that happened to be in this book. If you don’t like these things, move on; however, if you share my interests, this book is available on Kindle Unlimited, the holy grail for romance readers. The heroine is a scientist! She’s smart and precise, and she knows what she’s doing. Yay for competence! The hero is an alpha, but he’s also very attentive, and he appreciates the heroine for her sass. Excerpt & Giveaway: Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole

We’re kicking off August with an excerpt from Deep Cover by Scarlett Cole! The third in her Love Over Duty series, fans of alpha heroes and workplace romance won’t want to miss this hot romantic suspense. He smelled of leather and cigar smoke. Maybe it was because she’d lost her mother so many years ago, but it was impossible to explain the feeling of safety that washed over her when she was […]

The Faerie Queen’s review I was meant to publish this review on release day, but it’s always painful when you’re hopeful about a book and then discover it does not suit you. I was eager to read about vampires who lived through extraordinary historical events, and I liked the idea of an academic struggling to come to terms with the existence of creatures she’s considered legends. The biggest stumbling block from the beginning was how Dominic came across. Instead of a dark, sexy hero, he came across like a wise, old man. Yes, he is wise, and he is old, but when writing vampire heroes, you need to portray them as experienced but still as youthful as the day they “died”. At best, I could see Dominic being like Ned Stark. Instead of a hot vampire romance, Dominic initially came across as creepy old man lusting over a much younger woman. […]
