Excerpt & Giveaway: A Rose in the Highlands by Heather McCollum

Runaway Englishwoman meets Highland chief in A Rose in the Highlands by Heather McCollum, the first in her new Highland Roses School series. To get you excited, I’ve got a wee excerpt – the couple’s less than friendly first meeting… – and a giveaway for an Amazon gift card! About the book Excerpt Black soot scorched upward around the door, the glass windows burst out, the remaining shards like jagged teeth set in a series of open-mouthed screams. Had the captain mistakenly set her castle ablaze? She flattened her hand to her chest and straightened as James came to the door. “The storm is upon us, milady. Best to get you three inside. I will help ye in while Thomas holds the horses.” “Thomas won’t be able to hold the horses by himself if they spook,” Evelyn said, placing her hand in James’s. “We will be fine.” Had he not seen the soot? Review, First Chapter & Giveaway: Shameless by Cherrie Lynn

The Faerie Queen’s review This is a novella for those of you who want an espresso shot of the brother’s best friend trope. Meredith gets a kick up the backside while on holiday with her brother and friends, including Cam, her brother’s best friend since childhood. After crushing on Cam for a long time, she makes her move, but will Cam be receptive? Because it was so short, I didn’t get too invested in the story. Novellas can be a struggle because there’s not a lot of time to introduce the reader to new characters and develop their relationship. Luckily, for this one, while it did feel a bit rushed at times, I was glad that there was a long history between the two main characters, and that they’d had romantic feelings for each other for a lot of that time. I personally had an issue that others might not. […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: The Elusive Earl by Maddison Michaels

Ever gone on holiday and accidentally become engaged to two men? Yeah…me neither… But that’s what happens to the heroine in The Elusive Earl by Maddison Michaels. Enjoy the prologue below, along with a giveaway for a $25 Amazon gift card! About the book Prologue Mendicino, Calabria, Italy—1833 “It was the most glorious treasure the world had ever seen. Gold, silver, rubies, diamonds bigger than a man’s fist, priceless statues and urns, all carried on the backs of the loyal army of the great Visigoth king: plunders and spoils from King Aleric’s successful sacking of Rome.” Isabella Maria Penderley stopped short with a start, hovering just outside the slightly ajar door of her baby daughter’s bedroom. A calm and melodic voice was recounting the tale of the fabled lost treasure. It was the voice of a man she had dreaded ever hearing again. Slowly, she pushed open the door until the […]

Review, Excerpt & Giveaway: Sweet Home Highlander by Amalie Howard & Angie Morgan

The Faerie Queen’s review So, something to know about me. I love Sweet Home Alabama. (I watch it almost every year.) Yet, somehow, it didn’t dawn on me until a third of the way through that this book is Sweet Home Alabama, except set in 1820s Scotland. You’d think the name would tip me off, eh? So many things were similar, from the reason Aisla returns for a divorce so she can marry someone else to the way she slips right back into her old accent when worked up. I was absolutely delighted. So the premise of the book is that two Scottish teens fell in love over the course of a few years, eloped, and then had a pretty bad start at life together. After a particularly terrible event, Aisla leaves, going to live with an aunt in Paris, where she stays for six years and befriends a Frenchman. […]

Excerpt & Giveaway: One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton

Con artist meets charity fundraiser in One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton, and we’ve got the first chapter right here! About the book Chapter 1 Was she desperate enough to stand on a barstool in a crowded pub and ask for money? Finley Cartwright sipped her second Midori Sour and considered the state of her desperation and the amount of courage that was contained in a green cocktail. She hadn’t meant to overspend on their new Dollars for Daughters website, or be the cause for her stressed business partner, Lenny Bradshaw, showing up for work that morning with her shirt on inside out. Now they had to choose between paying for their gorgeous, new, electronic home or the rent on their pokey, made-of-old-bricks office. The charity was supposed to be Fin’s way out of waitressing and sweating on her agent finding her a TV commercial or getting a callback after an […]

Excerpts: The Hunt for an Alpha tour, featuring Bitten Under Fire by Heather Long and Wolf of Her Own by N.J. Walters

We’ve got a double-whammy for you today! As part of the Hunt for an Alpha tour, we have excerpts from two new wolf shifter books: Bitten Under Fire by Heather Long and Wolf of Her Own by N.J. Walters! Excerpt Cottonmouth and cracked lips woke Bianca. Her eyelids weighed a ton, and her knuckles burned. Then the twinges along her back added insult to injury. Awareness following discomfort, Bianca jerked as her eyes opened. Beeping machines, a hiss of oxygen, dim lighting, and a swaying sensation all surrounded her. “Hello there,” an unfamiliar voice greeted her. The woman who appeared in her line of sight wore a uniform, her blonde hair perfectly tucked and pinned. “I’m Corpsman McGinnis, and you’re aboard the USS Seahawke. Do you know your name?” “Bianca,” she began, but the word came out strained and choked. Coughing, she closed her eyes and grimaced. “Easy, take a sip of […]

First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Excerpt Constance blinked. She heard Abigail scream and some of the men yell. Nic had to be about fifteen feet long, and that wasn’t including his long, powerful tail, which was tucked around him. He rose on his back legs and released his wings. The spread had to be at least double the size of his body. Nic was a dragon. She shook her head. Impossible. Nic. Was. A. Dragon. She’d had sex with a dragon. She was in love with a bloody dragon. How was this even possible? Then she remembered what Nic had told her about Dent and how the group he belonged to wanted to capture him and drink his blood. She […]
