Review: From the Top by Dani Collins

The Faerie Queen’s review CW: This book does bring up past sexual harassment, as well as a pregnancy-related experience that some readers might want to avoid. It’s up to you whether you want to be warned:  From the Top released just after the Winter Olympics, and the timing was perfect. Why? Because it’s set right after the Olympics. After a New Year’s Eve fling, Ilke intended to continue with her dreams of gold medals, only to crash and burn thanks to an unexpected pregnancy. From the Top opens with Ilke returning to the site of her one-night-stand, and the man she had such an enjoyable night with. The problem? Neither had any intention of seeing each other, or of getting into any relationship in the first place. I haven’t read the first book, and I think this might be a case where reading the first book in a romance series is […]

Excerpt: On the Edge by Dani Collins

If hate-to-love is your kinda romance, we’ve got an excerpt from a new fiesty romance: On the Edge by Dani Collins! First, here’s a bit more about the book, and don’t forget to enter the giveaway at the end! About the book Dani Collins shares fast facts! The working title for On The Edge was Uphill Battles. Glory is a romance author, like me! Also like me: she’s sarcastic, an introvert, and swears a lot. Glory writes a no-room-at-the-inn Christmas romance called Blessed Winter. My brother-in-law rescued him two years ago. The name Blue Spruce Lodge is in memory of my grandmother. She loved Blue Spruce trees. (And romance novels, as do I!) Excerpt “I’m saying […]

Review: The Cowboy’s Rebellious Bride by Laurie LeClair

The Faerie Queen’s review This wasn’t a bad book. But it wasn’t a good book either. It was just, on average, a meh book. The plot was a bit of a disaster. People thrown in here and there for the sake of drama without it really making sense for the story. Like Tabitha, Cody’s ex, suddenly showing up out of nowhere, HOURS after a run-in with another ex. And all out of town. What really are the chances of that happening??? Characters also behaved in strange ways, like Hannah’s weird leap of logic towards the end. The plot didn’t flow, and there’s no way around that. The book also seemed really preachy. The most bizarre characters, the Fruit Spinsters (they’re called Clementine and Peach), tried to protect Hannah’s honour by not letting her see Cody alone before the wedding (um, I’m sure Hannah wasn’t a virgin given her previous forays).
