Guest Post: Leslie North, author of Tempting the Rancher, on the hardest thing about writing

Hi everyone! We have a special guest post for you from Leslie North, author of Tempting the Rancher! We asked Leslie what’s the hardest thing about writing. She shared the biggest hurdle for her, and what she does to combat it. You can also find out more about her book and enter a giveaway at the end! The hardest part of writing Sometimes the hard part is just sitting down! There are so many distractions these days, but usually if I have the discipline to just turn off the outside world, sit down at my writing desk and start typing, the words just flow out of me! I have found having a routine is an important part of my writing strategy. So I will write Monday to Friday in the mornings, all morning. I like to write then as I always feel more creative and haven’t been distracted yet by the world outside. I […]

Review: His Outback Nanny by Annie Seaton

The Faerie Queen’s review I’m going to need to keep an eye on Annie Seaton, because I really enjoyed His Outback Nanny. I mean, I couldn’t stop. Having read a few nanny-turned-lover stories recently, it seems I have developed a taste for them. And I already know I love a good fake relationship story! His Outback Nanny very much had traditional gender roles at its heart. Ned was The Farmer, strong and hunky, the physical labourer and strategiser. (Basically, he wanted to do all of the fun stuff while she handled the messy stuff.) And for their personalities, this division of labour did make sense. I can appreciate that not everyone wants the same kinds of things out of life, and despite […]

Review: The Cowboy’s Rebellious Bride by Laurie LeClair

The Faerie Queen’s review This wasn’t a bad book. But it wasn’t a good book either. It was just, on average, a meh book. The plot was a bit of a disaster. People thrown in here and there for the sake of drama without it really making sense for the story. Like Tabitha, Cody’s ex, suddenly showing up out of nowhere, HOURS after a run-in with another ex. And all out of town. What really are the chances of that happening??? Characters also behaved in strange ways, like Hannah’s weird leap of logic towards the end. The plot didn’t flow, and there’s no way around that. The book also seemed really preachy. The most bizarre characters, the Fruit Spinsters (they’re called Clementine and Peach), tried to protect Hannah’s honour by not letting her see Cody alone before the wedding (um, I’m sure Hannah wasn’t a virgin given her previous forays). […]
