Review: The Chocolate Touch by Laura Florand

The GingerSnap’s review I love chocolate. I love Paris. I read the first book in this series and didn’t hate it. That means I should’ve at least found this book tolerable, right? Wrong, friends, wrong. I hated this book so much that I had to bribe myself with banana bread to actually finish it (“You can only get another slice of banana bread if you get to 75% first”, I told myself). This book tells the story of Jamie (Jamie? Which is her real name? Unsure, since it switches in the book) Corey, who has come to Paris to recover from injuries sustained during her humanitarian work with fair trade cacao farmers, and Dominique Richard, one of Paris’ best chocolatiers and a perpetual grouch who takes an immediate liking to Jame/ie when she sits silently in his cafe for days in a row, sampling and savouring his confections. What makes […]

Review: Seared by Suleikha Snyder

The Faerie Queen’s review I DID NOT KNOW THIS WAS GOING TO BE A BDSM STORY. Ok, now that that’s out there, I can breathe again. I don’t mind BDSM stories, and I’ve enjoyed several in the past, but it would have been nice to know it was one going in. But honestly, that was torture, and not of a good kind. It started out ok, if a bit more on the erotica-sans-plot side. Then a plot was introduced, but I never cared. Because I couldn’t bring myself to care about the characters. Fine, I cared enough to force myself to the finish line, but only because the book is like 150 pages long. And yet it took a lot of willpower to read one page after the next. But I got there, and I can say with 100% certainty that this book and I were not meant for each other. […]

Review: Glutton for Pleasure by Alisha Rai

The GingerSnap’s review I’ve been wanting to read Alisha Rai’s back catalogue of books for a while, and LiatoF’s Reverse Harem Month gave me the perfect opportunity to read this, her first book. When I read the introduction to the book and realised it was about two brothers falling in love with the same girl, I was intrigued, but wary. I’m all for reverse harem and menage romances, but haven’t read any involving family members due to my fear that the book would involve incest. I should’ve kept my faith in Alisha, however, because she managed to build a believable, incest-free, crazy-hot romance between Devi and brothers Jace and Marcus that had me nearly fanning myself at certain points of the book. Devi Malik is the head chef at her parent’s family-owned Indian restaurant, and after a serious romantic dry spell, her sister decides it’s time to spice up Devi’s […]
