Guest Post: Nicole Sobon, author of Collide, on her journey to publication

Hi everyone! We have a special guest post for you from Nicole Sobon, author of Collide, the first in a novella series! Today, Nicole will be talking about the road to release. You can also find out more about her book and enter a giveaway at the end! Publishing Collide I’d always enjoyed writing and spent most of my teenage years writing songs and poems that I typically only shared with close friends. However, around 2010, I decided to try my hand at writing a book and signed up for NaNoWriMo. To my surprise, I completed the challenge and ended up with a very uneven, and far from finished edition of Capture, the first book in my Lunica City Duet. While I knew I still had plenty of room to grow and was in no way ready to approach publishers, I continued to write each and every day, finishing my second novel – Program 13 […]

Review & Excerpt: Trouble With Gold by Melinda Dozier

The Faerie Queen’s review This is going to be a short review because the book was a short novella! Trouble With Gold was cute and fun, getting me in the mood for the Winter Olympics (opening in 3 weeks!), but it was not without its faults. Occurring over the space of the games, Nadia accidentally stumbles across snowboarder Ty, handcuffed in only his boxers and boots as part of an initiation. He immediately drawn to her, especially since she is so in control. It was pretty stereotypical in this regard: Ty is American and therefore fun-loving and a little reckless, while Nadia is an uptight Swiss with a desire to achieve and always be on time. Over the next few weeks, Nadia experiences a war between heart and head. Being a novella, it was really short, and I feel like it was unnecessarily so. A novella is no excuse to skimp on character […]

Review: The Twelve Days of Seduction by Eva Devon

The Faerie Queen’s review This novella was a surprisingly good read! It started out a bit weird, but then I got into it. At 120 pages, it’s very quick, and as you can imagine, things don’t get as developed as they could. I could have actually read a full version of this, but then I also loved how easy it was to get through. I could just enjoy it without getting too bogged down. I was also not feeling too great when I started it, but because it was quick and light, it was a great pick-me-up. The story is told over twelve chapters and swaps narration between Adriana, a “governess”, and Alexander, a duke. Adriana is quite scrappy but very caring underneath it all, while Alexander is your typical brooding hero. After discovering that Adriana isn’t who she says she is, Alexander threatens to throw her out on Christmas […]

Excerpt: Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis

The holidays are slowly starting to creep up on us. I know that I, for one, like to read a few holiday-themed books, especially right around Christmas. If you’re anything like me, you might be on the prowl for some new reads, and I’ve got one for you. Today, you can try a taster from Holiday Wishes by Jill Shalvis! First, here’s a bit more about the book. About the book Excerpt At the empathetic tone in Sean’s voice, Lotti’s heart and stomach and head all clenched in unison. “What do you mean you can’t give me what I want?” she asked. “All you have to do is walk away.” “Tried that already,” he said. “And it was the biggest mistake of my life.” He brought her hand up to his mouth and met her gaze over their entwined hands. He was looking at her like . . . well, she wasn’t sure what was […]
