The Faerie Queen’s review YESSSS book 2 in the Power of Five series! I adored the first book, so I was psyched to read the second instalment. But also dead nervous because so many series that start well flop in the next book. In this book, the quint faces down the council, eager to break them one way or another. They must prove to the rest of the fae that Lera deserves to be there despite being human. Basically, that she is not, in fact, a mistake of magic. As with the first book, yes, this is a reverse harem romance, but it’s also a great fantasy story with an interesting world and lovable/detestable characters. The Faerie Queen’s review You may remember I listened to the first book in the Gamer Boy series, Level Me Up, last year. I called it a sweet romance, though on the tamer side for New Adult romances. I also said it nicely laid the groundwork for more books in the series, and I was right! As I hoped at the time, this second book focuses on Morgan’s friend Gia and Dex’s teammate Simon, who just so happen to know each other already. The Faerie Queen’s review So you may have noticed my recent addiction to reverse harem romances. It really takes romance into the world of fantasy for me, entertaining this idea that I could have multiple gorgeous and interesting men all to myself. The Faerie Queen’s review Anthologies are always a risk for me, especially when published independently. The last one I tried was a disaster, with no proofreading and only half-baked ideas. Writing short stories can often be tougher than writing novels, as you have less time to get the characters, world, and plot together. But I do try to pick up an anthology from time to time, especially when delving into a genre I haven’t read in a while, as it’s a way to almost play catch up with the genre, plus it’s a great way to get to know some new authors. That’s why I gave this one a try. No, I didn’t read all of the stories. I’m a big believer in putting down books you don’t enjoy, and that applies to anthologies.
