The Faerie’s Queen review Before I get into my review, here were my reasons for reading this book: That gorgeous cover. I am obsessed with it. The fierce profile with the flames just work. The Faerie Queen’s review You can read my review for the first book, Survival of the Richest, here, but below are the main points: The complexity of the relationships between the main characters was incredible. I couldn’t untangle the love triangle. The chemistry between all three was intense. Money was a massively toxic influence in everyone’s lives. Well, dear readers, The Evolution of Man was thankfully great for all the same reasons. I really felt for Harper. In the first book, she lost her father to a sudden heart attack. The Faerie Queen’s review Once again, Karina Halle proves why she’s an autobuy author for me. I have loved every single book I’ve read by her since I was told to read Smut two years ago. Plus, her covers are always beyond sexy and just pop. Right from the start, this was giving me The Sound of Music vibes. A young woman (26) gets a job as a nanny for a grumpy older widower’s (40) children, and she brings life and joy back to the household. There was even (really bad) singing. As a fan of TSOM, I was completely ok with this connection. Of course, there were some differences. For a start, the widower in this case was the king of Denmark, and he didn’t use whistles to communicate with his two daughters. The Faerie Queen’s review As a girl who feels everything, and deeply, I was both scared and excited to read this collection of poetry. I don’t read a lot of poetry, so I can’t say how it compares to other volumes. That being said, I believe poetry, more than other types of writing, is a very subjective experience. That’s not to say other writing isn’t subjective, just that poetry is so completely about feelings and experiences, and is so succinct in expressing these, that it targets your own feelings, and you’ll get the most out of poetry if there’s a connection between what you’re reading and what you’re experiencing. The Faerie Queen’s review This is a novella for those of you who want an espresso shot of the brother’s best friend trope. Meredith gets a kick up the backside while on holiday with her brother and friends, including Cam, her brother’s best friend since childhood. After crushing on Cam for a long time, she makes her move, but will Cam be receptive? Because it was so short, I didn’t get too invested in the story. Novellas can be a struggle because there’s not a lot of time to introduce the reader to new characters and develop their relationship. Luckily, for this one, while it did feel a bit rushed at times, I was glad that there was a long history between the two main characters, and that they’d had romantic feelings for each other for a lot of that time. Her love stories may feature elite athletes and wealthy people, and they may have their happy endings, but she does not hold back from dealing with real-life issues. If you read the previous book, From the Top, you will have met the couple starring in In Too Deep: playboy charmer and professional snowboarder Trigg and the new manager Wren, aunt and guardian to Trigg’s daughter, Skylar.
