Happy Release Day to Holly Hearts Headlines!

Happy Release Day to Holly Hearts Headlines!

I’m celebrating the release of Holly Hearts Headlines by Kenley Conrad, published by Swoon Romance! Read on for information about the book, a few (HILARIOUS) excerpts and –of course– the giveaway. About the book Holly Hart has it all: designer clothes, affluent friends, a recording contract, and she’s dating the biggest pop star in America. It’s too bad he can’t be seen with her in public. It’s even worse that he seems so very cozy with Lacey, the girl who seems to enjoy stealing Holly’s dream and taking all the credit for their platinum-selling album. And Lacey? Well she couldn’t carry a tune in […]

Review: If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Review: If I Stay by Gayle Forman

Quick review If I Stay is a book about one of the biggest decisions Mia must make. Forman has crafted a heartbreaking tale with solid characters and very real problems. If I Stay is proof that the Young Adult genre is not just for silly stories for teenagers. This is a stellar thought-provoking, contemporary novel that will stick with me for a long time. Not so quick review My amazing sister from the OTSP Secret Sister programme sent me If I Stay as a read-along book, and I was supposed to read it two weekends ago. I seem to be terrible […]

(Partly Audiobook) Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

(Partly Audiobook) Review: Me Before You by Jojo Moyes

This is not chick-lit. This isn’t fluffy contemporary. This is an incredibly important book on an incredibly important topic. Moyes has crafted a moving story about two people from different worlds who have to spend a lot of time together. I started out listening to the audiobook version and then was so swept up in the story that I needed to buy the Kindle version just so I could read it faster. Will, Lou and all the other characters were so incredibly well-written that I had a hard time letting go at the end. (It’s a good thing the sequel came out […]

Review: The Thirteenth World by A.N. Willis

Review: The Thirteenth World by A.N. Willis

Warning: This is the second book in a series, so there will be spoilers! If you haven’t read the first book, The Corridor, check out my review of it instead. 🙂 Quick review The Thirteenth World is a great sequel to The Corridor, a fun YA science-fiction debut from A.N. Willis. Continuing on from the cliffhanger ending of the first book, Stel and I were kept on our toes throughout, with moments where I could only think in expletives (though I managed to keep my Goodreads updates clean). At first, I thought there would be no repercussions from the emotional damage done […]

Review: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Review: Everything, Everything by Nicola Yoon

Quick review Everything, Everything made me feel everything, but mostly heart-happy. I wanted to squeal and squirm with giddiness whenever Maddie interacted with Olly. The two of them were totally adorable together, but they were also totally love-drunk in the way only teenagers can be, leading to some very questionable decisions. I felt hope, frustration, a sense of doom, suspicion and despair while reading this, proving that Yoon really could get you to feel everything, everything. (Sorry for the cheese!) A one-sitting read, Everything, Everything is the best YA contemporary of read so far this year! Not so quick review So some […]

Review: Air Awakens by Elise Kova + a giveaway!

Review: Air Awakens by Elise Kova + a giveaway!

I’m so not going to do this book justice. Sorry. 😀 Quick review Air Awakens is one of my favourite books of the year! Elise Kova has managed to combine the ingredients for a Dani special: intelligent and independent female role model, strong and complex male counterpart with some awkwardness, an interesting magic system in a vivid world and a few twists and turns thrown together with clues to pick up along the way. The components were whisked together with a generous helping of skill to help them shine. I haven’t been able to start another book since finishing it, and I’ve already […]

Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Review: A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas

Quick review A Court of Thorns and Roses is not just a retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It is an incredible, rich story about the lengths a person will go to for love. Sarah J. Maas brings to life interesting and detailed characters in a vivid world filled with humans and faeries, doomed unless Feyre, the main character, can break the curse placed on the ‘beast’, Tamlin. The book is filled with unexpected twists and characters you can’t help but grow attached to (or hate). It gave me one of the worst hangovers I’ve ever experienced, and I can absolutely say […]
